Our Firm Recognizes The Importance Of A Strong Yet Compassionate Voice For Those In Need
At MacRae & Whitley, LLP, we take great pride in our rich history and longstanding commitment to serving the legal needs of individuals and businesses throughout Fayetteville, Cumberland County, and across North Carolina. Our firm traces its roots back over a century, and we’ve built our reputation on a tradition of excellence, integrity, and dedicated advocacy.
Our story began with the MacRae family, whose presence in the legal field has helped shape the firm’s identity for generations. James C. MacRae, Jr., a cornerstone of our practice, joined us in 1989 after earning his law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law and serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Cumberland County. Over the decades, he has become a trusted legal advocate, focusing on personal injury, criminal law, school assault and neglect, wrongful death, civil litigation, and workplace injuries. He is licensed to practice in all state courts, the U.S. District Courts in North Carolina, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
We’re proud to have welcomed the next generation of MacRae leadership in 2024, when James C. MacRae III joined our team. With a background in business from East Carolina University and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law, James began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Cumberland County before joining our firm. He brings fresh insight to areas such as land condemnation and eminent domain, criminal defense, and litigation involving personal injury and wrongful death.
Our partnership expanded further when Gregory T. Whitley joined us in 2008. Greg, a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and Campbell University School of Law, is an accomplished attorney who focuses on personal injury and wrongful death, school abuse and neglect, business litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and eminent domain. His dedication extends beyond the courtroom, with active involvement in local nonprofits and service on the boards of Fayetteville Technical Community College and Methodist University. His commitment to both legal excellence and community service reflects the core values we uphold at MacRae & Whitley.
